Currently enrolled students get free legal counseling services for many issues including renting and lease agreements, criminal law, LGBTQIA rights, and immigration.

The Wittliff preserves and shares the “legacies of artists who define Southwestern culture.”  Their collections include Southwestern Writers and Southwestern and Mexican Photography as well as the Texas Music and Lonesome Dove collections.  You can also view curated online exhibitions from their Digital Collections, such as “Homegrown: Austin Music Posters 1967 – 1982.”

As 1 in 7 Hays County residents is food insecure, the Hays County Food Bank provides food to eligible clients.  They also host Food Wise cooking classes and recipes for affordable and healthy meals.  There are also opportunities to volunteer time or money or even donate food through Amazon.com.

Discover public, animal, environmental, and public safety volunteer service opportunities across San Marcos.  Programs include library computer classes, riding along with the San Marcos Fire Department, and volunteering time or donations to the Blue Santa program.

This museum explores the lives of early African Americans in our city and state, and includes exhibits relating to Tuskegee Airmen, WWII Military and USO, Civil Rights, Ku Klux Klan, and memorabilia from locally born jazz artist Eddie Durham, whose park is nearby.

The River Foundation aims to help protect and preserve the San Marcos River.  Volunteers are needed for river cleanup events, water quality monitoring, greenbelt trail building and maintenance, and endangered species propagation and research.
