Associate Vice Provost for Academic Advising and Transitions

The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Advising and Transitions provides the overall vision and leadership for academic advising at Texas State. This role focuses on advancing a coordinated, student-centered academic advising experience that supports students from their transition into the university through degree completion.

By setting strategy, building partnerships across campus, and championing innovative approaches to academic advising, he ensures that academic advising remains a critical driver of academic success at TXST.

Strategic Advising Initiatives & Operations

Strategic Advising Initiatives & Operations (SAIO) coordinates shared programs, resources, and improvement efforts across Academic Advising & Transitions. We help turn advising priorities into clear, consistent practices that support students and academic advisors across Texas State.

Our work includes advising operations and student onboarding, strategic initiatives, communications and engagement, and advisor recruitment and development. We partner with advising centers and campus colleagues to strengthen the advising experience while supporting local expertise and flexibility.

Directors of Academic Advising

The Directors of Academic Advising provide leadership within each academic advising center. They guide teams of professional academic advisors and ensure that academic advising practices are responsive to the needs of their students and aligned with university and college priorities.

Directors play a key role in connecting students to their academic communities, partnering with college leadership and academic departments, supporting academic advisor development, and implementing strategies that promote student persistence, engagement, and timely graduation.
