What Is New Bobcat Enrollment?

Academic Advising’s New Bobcat Enrollment is a streamlined onboarding process designed to facilitate your first-semester registration at Texas State University. By sharing key details about your earned credits, intended major, and test scores, our Academic Advising team will build a customized first-semester course plan and register you for degree-applicable courses that keep you on your path to graduation.

What to Expect from the New Bobcat Enrollment Process?

Our Academic Advising team will review the information you submit and build a personalized course recommendation plan just for you.

While individual advising appointments are not part of this step, you are not on your own:

  • Our team is here to answer questions and provide support along the way
  • You will be assigned an academic advisor at the start of the fall semester
  • You will meet with your advisor during your first semester to continue planning your path

When Will I Receive My Schedule?

One week before your scheduled New Student Orientation (NSO), your advising hold will be lifted, and you will receive an email from Academic Advising with:

  • Access to your personalized course recommendation plan
  • Your fall schedule
  • Instructions for making changes (if needed)
  • Information about your advising center
  • What to expect from your academic experience at NSO, including registration support

Your Steps to Get Enrolled

To help you enroll in your first-semester schedule, we’ve broken down New Bobcat Enrollment into an easy-to-follow process. Click on each step below to learn more.

  • Unlock your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile in your TXST Future Bobcat Portal by confirming your major, signing up for New Student Orientation, and finalizing housing requirements.

  • Your profile gathers essential advising and registration information - such as your major confidence, earned and in-progress college credits, and test scores - so we can offer proper course recommendations.

Submit your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile no later than two weeks before your NSO session.

  • After you submit your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile, our academic advisors will use the information you provided on earned credit and test scores to create a Course Recommendation Plan and register you in 12-15 hours of degree-applicable coursework aligned with your path to graduation.

  • A week before your scheduled NSO session, you will receive an email from our Academic Advising Team containing details on how to access your Course Recommendation Plan, review your course schedule, steps for making adjustments to your schedule, how to connect with your advising center, and what to expect from your Academic Experience at NSO.

Your Questions, Answered

  • New Bobcat Enrollment (NBE) is a streamlined way to enroll you in classes for your first semester. Full advising, which comes later, is where you’ll discuss long-term academic goals, career plans, and any major changes in detail.

  • No. After we receive your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile, we will design a course recommendation plan and enroll you in courses, lift your New Student Advising hold, and email you with this information and registration resources.

You can modify your schedule at that time with the course recommendation plan created as a guide.

  • We highly encourage you to complete your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile as soon as possible to secure your first semester courses.

If you are not enrolled by your in-person NSO date, our team will assist you with the process when you are on campus for NSO.

  • Yes. New Student Orientation is a required and important component of your enrollment at Texas State. At NSO, you are introduced to Texas State's vibrant community, learn about the support and resources you can access as a student, and connect with other new Bobcats!

Failure to attend NSO will result in a hold on your account. If you were already enrolled in courses, you will be dropped from these courses and will not be allowed to reenroll until you attend an NSO session.

  • To proceed with enrollment, we need TSI records—passing scores, partial scores, or an official exemption—on file. If we don’t have them, your enrollment will be paused until we do. These scores ensure we place you in the correct level of courses.

  • We’ll email you once we finalize your schedule and remove your New Student Advising Hold. At that point, you can see your course recommendation plan in the NavigateTXST app, the classes we enrolled you in your Texas State Self-Service system, and make any changes by consulting your plan and utilizing our registration resources.

  • If you have questions about the course recommendations plan provided, please contact your advising center

If you have registration-related questions or are having issues registering for courses, please contact the TXST One Stop.

We have created an easy-to-follow page to help determine how to get the help you need.
